Engage, Interact, Explore, Inspire…Discover the New RM Easiteach Secondary Content Pack

Launched at TCEA in Feb 2008, the new RM Easiteach Secondary Content pack, ensures school districts even more relevant, dynamic and easy to use interactive content for all Interactive Whiteboards, Wireless Slates and Tablets and Voting/Polling devices.

Demonstrating excellent use of technology in the delivery of the curriculum, the RM Easiteach Secondary Content pack provides teachers with a wide range of interactive Easibooks to use with any type of interactive whiteboard, wireless pad/slate or simply projector.

Covering core topics and key skill development, the content pack spans middle school English Language Arts, Life Science and Math and high school English Language Arts and Math. Containing well over 100 interactive lessons, the RM Easiteach Secondary Content Pack is structured in such a way that allows middle school teachers to access extension activities for gifted students and high school teachers to support lower ability students with springboard activities.

Clearly the use of IT across the curriculum is all about the enhancement of teaching and learning rather than the focus being on the use of hardware. The RM Easiteach Secondary Content Pack covers areas of the curriculum that are particularly challenging to teach without Instructional Technology.

For example, there are several virtual experiments within the Science Easibooks such as testing the rate of photosynthesis and the production of yeast. This enables the teacher to use and re-use the resource without being limited by lab constraints but also provide more flexibility for students to modify variables and thus test hypotheses more easily.

The high school resources build on the proven concepts and values established with the middle school resources and extend these to higher order skill development and independent learning. Due to the nature of study at high school the Easibooks provide enhanced flexibility for both teachers and students.

Teachers are provided with sophisticated lessons created using RM Easiteach that allow them to introduce concepts and strategy through interaction and collaboration. For students, independent learning is supported by flexible mind mapping and drafting tools and through engaging flash-based extended activities that can be saved and revisited as required.

These open ended activities that help students develop the higher order thinking skills needed at this level of study and to provide students with opportunities to analyze a range of sources of information, to design investigations, to produce their own creative pieces of work and to evaluate the work of others. They are intended to be used independently however many of them encourage collaboration with other students.

There are over 100 flash based activities embedded within the Easibooks and can be accessed both from within lessons and from a separate activity driven menu. The use of flash within the content pack allows for the mature look and feel of the product and goes some way to ensuring that technology is being used within the classroom in a way that students use it outside of the classroom. For example, many of these high quality flash resources are based on plausible reconstruction and students are presented with an environment/scenario e.g news reporter, travel writer that would lead them to imagine that they are actually undertaking that job and therefore more likely to achieve in the task.
