What is the BSF Programme?
Here at RM Education, we deliver so much more than just computers for schools. The Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme helped shape schools in the 21st Century by integrating RM's range of technology and managed service solutions with newly designed and innovative learning spaces, furniture and educational resources. We have a number of BSF contracts located across the UK, including Lambeth, Essex, Leeds and Salford.
What does BSF provide?
Each contract is different to suit the requirements of the individual Local Authority and their schools, but in essence RM Education provides a core service provision in each contract which includes:
- A full ICT Managed Service- supporting all the technology in the schools both through site-based engineers and remote helpdesks, ensuring that teachers are able to maximise their time teaching, rather than fixing IT.
- Project Management - helping schools identify, procure and implement the right ICT solution, either within the context of a major school rebuild or refurbishment programme, or simply updating an aging school ICT infrastructure. This could include anything from networks, wifi coverage, biometric access control systems to digital signage, laptops and handheld technology.
- Educationalist Support- whereby our seasoned educationalists (former teachers and school leaders themselves) deliver a programme of continuous professional development (CPD) to enable teachers to make the most of their school's investment in ICT.
The positive impact of BSF for Teachers
In Salford, we have taken things it a step further by managing what used to be one of their City Learning Centres (CLCs), now known as the TEN (Transforming Education Networks) Centre. The TEN Centre provides teachers with a large open learning space filled with flexible furniture solutions and ICT.
It's a space where teachers can experiment with new technology, without interrupting the learning of their students. CPD and third party training (eg Apple training) is delivered through the centre and the Managed Service is hosted out of the TEN Centre.
