From Technology providers to Education Solution experts
- When Mike Fischer and Mike O'Regan first started the company in 1973, they supplied electrical components to hobbyists.
- They started building machines for the scientific, research and education market and they called the company Research Machines.
- By 1977 we'd built our first school computer (380Z) and we've been supplying ICT to schools ever since.
- In 1980 we had gained a 40% share of emerging schools' market for microcomputers.
- In 1985 we launched our first MS DOS/Windows PC, making RM one of the first companies in the world to adopt the MS Windows standard.
- In the 1990s we looked beyond the technology to form long-term partnerships with both educationalists and other learning technology companies
- By 1992 we had become the largest supplier to UK Education.
- By the time of our 25th birthday in 1998, our annual profit had reached £10 million
- By 1999 we'd helped to connect 25% of UK Schools to the Internet and had hit the 1000 employees mark.
- Early 2000's saw the launch of RM Whiteboards, CC3 (8th generation RM network), Tablet PCs, RM Mobile One and RM India was established
- In 2006 we signed a £6.4 million BSF contract with Solihull Council, were named as one of the "Ten Best Web Support Sites" for the third year running and launched GLOW (Scottish Digital Network).
- In 2009 and 2010 we were named the 'UK's Top IT Employer.
