With the BSF programme in Stoke entering its final year, Watermill School reflect on their BSF journey and the impact of new technology on teaching and support staff working with pupils with special educational needs.
Situated in the West Midlands, Victoria Park has a large number of pupils for whom English is an additional language, and a high percentage of pupils on Free School Meals. In 2007, the school was taken out of Special Measures by Ofsted and four years later in 2011, was judged to be Outstanding.
The Shirelands Collegiate Academy has been using RM Books to raise literacy standards and help deliver tailored, personalised learning, including: encouraging reluctant readers, providing breadth and depth of choice with a range of books, enabling independent reading and smoothing the transition into Year 7.
